just found out can dogs have cucumber and honestly it's such a good snack option. my vet confirmed they're totally safe and super low-calorie, which is perfect if your pup is watching their weight.
so can dogs eat cucumber? yeah, and it's actually pretty healthy. they're mostly water so great for hydration, especially in summer. plus cucumbers have potassium and antioxidants. the only real rule is moderation - treats should be max 10% of their daily calories.
for smaller dogs, just give a couple thin slices a few times a week. bigger breeds can have more but still keep it reasonable. always wash them first and cut into bite-sized pieces to avoid choking. some people remove the seeds just in case their dog can't digest them, but it's not always necessary.
raw cucumber is the way to go btw - don't do pickled ones since the brine has onion and garlic which are actually toxic to dogs. and while can dogs have cucumber skin is a common question, it's fine to leave it on (just wash it well for pesticides).
if you have a puppy, introduce cucumber slowly in tiny amounts to avoid stomach issues. and remember it's a treat, not a meal replacement.
other good fruit options: apples (no seeds), bananas, blueberries, watermelon (no seeds), strawberries. basically if you're looking for healthy snacks beyond the usual dog treats, there's actually tons of options. my dog's been getting these lately and seems to love them.
