Just looked into cherry eye surgery for dogs because my cocker spaniel's been showing signs. Man, the costs are wild—anywhere from $300 to $1,500 depending on where you go and how bad it is. Apparently it matters if it's one eye or both, and whether you're seeing a regular vet or an eye specialist. The surgery itself isn't optional either. If you don't treat it, your dog keeps rubbing and pawing at it, which can scratch the cornea or cause infections. In worst cases, you could actually lose the eye. Recovery's about 10-14 days with a cone collar the whole time, which my dog's gonna hate. What's tricky is figuring out what's included in the price quote. Some vets charge extra for anesthesia, blood work, pain meds—stuff you'd think is obvious. And pet insurance might not even cover it. I'm looking into payment plans because yeah, dropping $1,000+ isn't happening overnight. Apparently certain breeds are just prone to this. Anyone else dealt with this?
