If you don't treat it, your dog keeps rubbing and pawing at it, which can scratch the cornea or cause infections. In worst cases, you could actually lose the eye. Recovery's about 10-14 days with a cone collar the whole time, which my dog's gonna hate. What's tricky is figuring out what's included in the price quote. Some vets charge extra for anesthesia, blood work, pain meds—stuff you'd think is obvious. And pet insurance might not even cover it.
