Been thinking about how to use AI to trade stocks lately, and honestly it's wild how much has changed since my mom's days on Wall Street. She used to tell me about the tubing systems and ticker tape - now we're living in an era where AI is reshaping everything about how markets work.

The thing is, most people are still sleeping on this. Wall Street's heavy hitters like Citadel and Morgan Stanley have already gone all-in on AI, but smaller traders have something they don't: flexibility and the ability to move fast. That's actually a huge advantage if you know how to leverage it.

So here's what I've been experimenting with. First, building custom indicators in ChatGPT takes literally seconds now. I needed a volume-based indicator last week, typed in what I wanted, and had working code to paste into TradingView within minutes. What used to take hours of coding or hiring someone to do it is now instant.

Second thing that's been a game-changer is portfolio analysis. I used to spend forever calculating win rates and average gains manually. Now I just feed my trade data into an AI and it spits back all the metrics I actually need. The win rate, loss rate, average gain per trade - all the stuff that matters. Most retail traders obsess over picking winners when they should be analyzing their own performance metrics.

Third, learning about complex strategies is different now. Want to understand options spreads or sector rotation? You don't need to hunt for books anymore. Just ask an AI. It's like having access to all the world's financial knowledge instantly.

One thing to be careful about though - don't fall for the "robo-advisor" hype. Lots of companies are slapping AI labels on products and charging premium fees to basically track an index. Compare their performance to the S&P 500 and you'll see most of them are just expensive middlemen.

The real opportunity is learning how to use AI to trade stocks yourself. The revolution isn't coming - it's already here. The people who adapt and actually use these tools are going to have an edge. The ones who ignore it will get left behind.
