Just looking back at how wild the price of eggs got about a year ago. Early 2025 was absolutely crazy - started at $5.81 a dozen, then shot up to nearly $8.17 by early March before crashing back down. Honestly reminds me of watching crypto volatility, except this was happening at your local grocery store.

What's interesting is how unevenly it hit different states. Hawaii was getting absolutely hammered at $9.73 a dozen while places like Missouri and Kansas were sitting around $4.24-$4.41. That's wild regional disparity for the same product. Florida, California, and Arizona all saw the price of eggs stay elevated compared to the national average, but if you lived in the Midwest? Way cheaper.

The whole thing was basically a masterclass in supply shocks and how fast prices can swing. By mid-March it had cooled to $4.90, almost back to where it was the year before. Makes you wonder what other everyday items we're not paying attention to that could spike just as hard. The price of eggs went from being a political talking point to basically forgotten in a few months.
