Just noticed something interesting - Greg Murphy, the congressman from North Carolina, apparently made nearly half a million in the stock market last month according to Quiver Quantitative's tracking. They're estimating his total net worth sits around $22.9M as of mid-2025, which puts him in the top 50 richest members of Congress.
What caught my eye is that Murphy's got about $13.2M tied up in publicly traded assets that are being monitored live. Looking at his trading history, the data shows some pretty substantial moves - including a sale of up to $100K in NYMX stock back in January 2021 that's since tanked like 91%. Not exactly a winning trade there.
Beyond the stock portfolio, his Q1 fundraising disclosure showed he brought in around $210K with about 39% coming from individual donors. He was spending pretty actively too - roughly $130K in that quarter. The guy's clearly got serious cash reserves with $1.7M on hand at the end of that filing period.
It's wild how much detail these financial disclosures reveal about politicians' investment moves. If you're curious about tracking Greg Murphy's net worth and trading activity, Quiver Quantitative has all this stuff updated regularly. Makes you wonder how many other congressional trades are flying under the radar.
