Just checked the new SNAP numbers for 2026 and honestly kinda surprised how much they bumped things up. So the USDA did these cost-of-living adjustments back in October and now a family of four in most states can get up to $994 a month. That's a real increase from before, especially if you're in places like Alaska or Hawaii where they're hitting close to $2k for the same family size.

The income limits changed too which is probably the bigger deal for a lot of people. Like if you're a household of 4, you gotta stay under around $3,483 gross monthly income to qualify. Been seeing people ask whether food stamps will increase again soon but this October adjustment was the main one. The minimum benefit went up to $24 a month too which helps.

What actually matters is how they calculate it though. They take the max for your household size, then multiply your net income by 0.30, and subtract that from the max. So basically if you make less, you get closer to the full amount. The asset limit stayed the same at $3k so that didn't change.

If you're on SNAP, definitely worth checking if your number went up since October. You can use the EBT card to buy groceries at most places. Knowing the exact amount helps with budgeting since a lot of families are still living pretty tight month to month. Worth looking into if you haven't checked recently.
