Just went through the whole DBA in Florida process and honestly it's way simpler than I thought. Basically if you want to run your business under a different name than your legal one, a DBA is your ticket. Took me like a week total.

So here's the deal - you pick your name, make sure nobody else has it, then you gotta advertise it in a local newspaper. Yeah, a newspaper. Only costs $50 to register with the state after that. The whole DBA in Florida thing is pretty straightforward compared to forming an LLC if you're just doing it for branding reasons.

The confusing part for me was figuring out the difference between a DBA and an LLC. Turns out a DBA doesn't protect your personal assets like an LLC does, it's really just for using a business name that's not your legal one. If that matters to you, go the LLC route instead.

After registration you get certified copies which are super helpful for opening bank accounts and stuff. Just remember it expires in five years so mark your calendar. Honestly for the price, getting a DBA in Florida is the move if you're just starting out and want to keep things simple. Anyone else done this recently?
