just found out oranges are actually safe for dogs and honestly my mind is blown. been giving my pup little pieces here and there and apparently that's totally fine as long as you don't go overboard. the thing is, you gotta remove the peel and seeds first—those have stuff that's not great for them. so basically just the orange flesh.
they're packed with vitamin C and fiber which is cool, but here's the thing—your dog's regular food probably already has everything they need. oranges are more of an occasional treat situation, like one to three slices max per day. any more and your dog might get an upset stomach or worse.
people keep asking me if can dogs have orange juice too. supposedly fresh squeezed is okay but only a tiny bit mixed into their food. definitely skip the store-bought stuff though, way too much sugar. oh and if your dog has diabetes, oranges are a no-go because of the sugar content.
the wildest part? puppies can have them too but you gotta introduce it slowly. anyway, wondering if anyone else gives their dogs citrus or if i'm just weird about this
