36Kr exclusively learned from an informed source that ByteDance’s overseas revenue is expected to grow nearly 50% in 2025, far exceeding the approximately 20% growth in domestic revenue. The proportion of overseas business revenue also increased from 25% in 2024 to over 30%, hitting a new high. TikTok’s e-commerce business is the main driver of ByteDance’s overseas revenue growth. However, while overseas operations continue to boost ByteDance’s revenue, the company’s net profit in 2025 is expected to decline by over 70%. The aforementioned source said that the sharp decline in net profit is due to ByteDance significantly increasing its investment in AI business in the third and fourth quarters of last year, and this substantial investment has also caused the company’s net profit margin in 2025 to decline sharply year-over-year.
