Is it that the contract price is converging toward the spot price, or that the spot price is dropping to the contract price? It's hard to tell. Funding rates fluctuate between positive and negative. What exactly are the big players trying to do? Logically, even if they push the price up, it's unlikely that all the holdings will be sold off. There should still be some room for play later.
