Actually, everyone understands that by the time a hot topic is right in front of your eyes, it’s basically already “someone tells a story and you pick up the emotions,” but I still keep making the same old mistake: when I see an open position suddenly get a big lift and the funding rate starts to get twisted up, I get restless and feel like chasing it—talking about the trend with my mouth, while first getting my stop-loss properly set… and as a result, I often get swept back and forth.
I’ve set a simple “dirt-simple” method for myself now: when a hot topic comes around, I only do the first impulsive kind of counter-management—wait 15 minutes first, and check whether the big orders’ trail is pushing things forward or actually unloading; then see whether the funding has that “everyone’s getting on the train” kind of flavor. On-chain tools and tags haven’t they also been getting criticized lately for lagging behind and being able to mislead, so I just take them as references and not as evidence. To put it plainly, when hot topics rotate fast, doing fewer trades is better than guessing twice—if you miss it, you miss it. Anyway, my reviews are faster than my stubborn arguing.
