Been watching the space economy heat up lately and honestly, there are some solid space company stocks worth looking at if you've got capital to deploy right now.

SpaceX going public this year is the big story everyone's talking about - we're hearing IPO valuations could hit a trillion, which would be wild. But while we wait for that, there's actually opportunity in some of the smaller players that are already public and doing interesting things.

Rocket Lab is one I keep coming back to. They're basically the second-largest launch provider in the US after SpaceX, which is saying something. Their Electron rocket has done 81 launches so far, and they've been handling the small satellite market really well. But here's what's got people watching them - they're about to debut Neutron, a medium-lift rocket that can carry payloads 40 times heavier than Electron. If that launch goes smooth in Q1, it changes the game for them against SpaceX's Falcon 9. Beyond launch services, they've also built a solid space systems business manufacturing components - that segment alone pulled in $93.7 million in gross profit through September. Their backlog is over a billion dollars, so they've got runway.

AST SpaceMobile is another one catching attention. They're building satellites that let regular cellphones connect directly without needing special hardware. Already locked in partnerships with AT&T and Verizon to fill connectivity gaps. They landed a $43 million government contract too. They're planning to get 45 to 60 satellites up by end of 2026, eventually scaling to 90 for global coverage. That's an interesting play on the connectivity angle.

Lockheed Martin is the more established pick if you want space company stocks with less volatility. They're huge in defense and aerospace, and their space segment is honestly underrated. They handle military and civil satellites, GPS systems for the Air Force, and they're the lead contractor on NASA's Orion spacecraft for the Artemis missions. The cash flow from government contracts is steady, which matters when markets get choppy.

If you're looking to get exposure to this growing space economy with a couple grand, these are worth digging into. The sector's got real momentum heading into 2026.
