So I was digging through some grocery price data from last year and noticed something wild about egg prices across the country. Back in spring 2025, they were absolutely all over the place depending on where you lived. Hawaii was paying nearly $10 a dozen while states like Ohio, Kansas, and Missouri were sitting pretty around $4.40-$4.50. That's a huge gap.

Ohio especially had it good - egg prices there were running about 10% below the national average at that time. Meanwhile, Florida and Hawaii were getting absolutely hammered, paying nearly 50% more than the national average. Makes you wonder what drives that kind of regional difference - supply chain issues, local regulations, whatever.

Interesting to look back at how volatile everything was. The whole egg price situation had people talking for months. If you were in a state with cheaper eggs back then, you were basically winning the grocery store lottery compared to other regions.
