🔥Tensions between the US and Iran are high; Trump’s favorable developments were dismissed by Iran, and prospects for a second round of talks are unclear


On April 20, Trump released multiple favorable messages regarding the US-Iran situation in nearly 24 hours, but most of the reports were dismissed by Iran after the official announcements. Trump said that the US side’s representatives would arrive in Islamabad, Pakistan, on the evening of April 20 Eastern Time and participate in US-Iran talks scheduled for April 21. Iran then refused to take part in the second round of talks, saying that the Iran-US “second talks” report is untrue and that the prospects for negotiations are unclear. The US military attacked an Iranian merchant ship, forcing it to turn back, and Trump said that the US Marine Corps had taken control of an Iranian vessel attempting to break through the US blockade. Iran, meanwhile, said it is prepared for hostilities to reignite.
