The People's Procuratorate of Xinxiang City, Henan Province, has formally prosecuted Shi Yongxin according to the law.
On March 20, the People’s Procuratorate of Xinxiang City filed a public prosecution with the Intermediate People’s Court of Xinxiang City against Shi Yongxin (originally named Liu Yingcheng), the former abbot of the Songshan Shaolin Temple, for alleged duty embezzlement, misappropriation of funds, taking bribes by a non–state functionary, and bribery. During the review and prosecution stage, the procuratorial authority, in accordance with the law, informed the defendant Shi Yongxin (originally named Liu Yingcheng) of his litigation rights, questioned the defendant, and listened to the defense attorney’s opinions.
