Live pig slaughter slightly exceeded expectations, but regional differences are obvious

Abstract generation in progress

In March, the domestic pig slaughter volume showed a slight overall excess, but regional differences were prominent. The first half of the month was generally on track, with breeding farms accelerating slaughter, but market competition was fierce, supply exceeded demand seriously, prices repeatedly hit new lows, and some regional breeders were reluctant to sell or passively delayed sales. According to Mysteel’s agricultural product monitoring data, the planned slaughter volume of breeding enterprises in key provinces in March was 13.7453 million pigs, while the actual slaughter volume was 13.8264 million pigs, with a completion rate of 100.59%. Specifically, most of the northern and central regions exceeded their slaughter plans, while actual performance in the southwest, South China, and parts of East China was below expectations.
