Blue Origin plans to deploy over 50k satellites in space
On March 19th local time, Blue Origin, the space company under Amazon founder Bezos, submitted a project proposal to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission regarding the development of space data centers. The proposal shows that Blue Origin intends to deploy more than 50,000 satellites in space. Analysts noted that if the project is approved, it would be a key step for Blue Origin to transition from a launch-vehicle service provider to an orbital infrastructure service provider, and competition in the global space economy would become even more intense. It is reported that in January this year, Blue Origin announced its satellite internet project called “TeraWave,” aiming to provide global enterprise users with high-speed data connection services of up to 6 terabits per second through a multi-orbit network made up of thousands of satellites; the data transmission speed is far faster than that of Starlink, a subsidiary of the U.S. space exploration technology company.
