On March 14th, the National Museum of Natural History announced that on March 12th, the mobilization meeting for the main project of the new museum building was held at the construction site of the new museum.
The construction project of the new National Museum of Natural History is located in the Hongmen area of Fengtai District within the first phase of the museum cluster, with a total construction area of 193.8k square meters, including exhibition and display areas, education zones and service facilities, collection warehouses, collection technology zones, business and research rooms, administrative management areas and auxiliary rooms, underground parking, civil defense projects, and more.
The new museum of the National Museum of Natural History is a key project of Beijing’s “3-100” initiative, a key task in building an international science and technology innovation center, and an annual priority in constructing an international exchange center.
The construction standards are “world-class, Chinese characteristics, and a national style.”
The work on compiling the exhibition outline and collecting exhibits for the new museum is progressing in an orderly and synchronized manner, with plans to open for trial operation in October 2029.
