Eighteen years ago, when I came out to make my way in the world, my belief was that my fate is in my own hands, not dictated by heaven—whatever I wanted, I could ultimately control it myself.

But, but… as of today, after I’ve experienced so many things, I’ve come to realize that in life, what’s in your fate amounts to only seven sheng of rice; if you go all over the world, you still won’t get even one more sheng than that. The more you want to obtain something—if it isn’t in your fate—no matter how hard you want it, in the end you still won’t be able to get it.
I have no choice but to believe in fate—everything is predetermined.
