Recently, I saw another case of cross-chain bridge theft, and I felt a tightness in my chest... Right now, cross-chain transfers are like chopping vegetables; the knife isn't dull, but you still have to do it slowly. Many bridges, to put it simply, rely on three things: multi-signature, oracles, and "waiting for confirmation." Multi-signature isn't safer just because more people sign; the key is whether those keys are in the same wallet. Oracles are even more mysterious—an occasional abnormal quote can cause the entire chain to be salty, just like smelling the wrong salt. As for "waiting for confirmation," I used to find it annoying, but now I see it as a consensus moat: I’d rather wait an extra 2 minutes, or even try transferring 0.003 coins first to see if it arrives, before doing larger amounts. Anyway, I also watch the funding rate on L2s; what I fear most isn't slowness, but the unexpected that happens when things move so fast you can't react. Stop-loss is about faith, but when it comes to cross-chain steps, don’t let yourself get into the kitchen and drop the pot before you’re ready.
