🔥Aave Guardian: The rsETH theft incident was not caused by a protocol vulnerability, only involving the asset itself.
After receiving a potential vulnerability warning for rsETH, Aave Guardian has implemented an emergency freeze on the rsETH and wrsETH markets across all deployments.
All Aave liquidity pools remain secure and operational.
The incident only concerns the rsETH asset itself and is not due to a vulnerability in the Aave protocol.
The root cause is currently under investigation by teams including KelpDAO and LayerZero, and Aave is collaborating with them.
In Aave V3, the Guardian froze the rsETH and wrsETH markets to prevent new deposits and new loans collateralized by rsETH; existing positions are unaffected.
