National prosecutors' offices will prosecute over 7,000 food and drug crime cases starting in 2025.
On the eve of International Consumer Rights Day, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate released typical cases of criminal punishment by procuratorial organs according to law for manufacturing and selling counterfeit and shoddy goods, and also reported on the work situation of prosecutorial agencies nationwide in 2025 regarding the lawful punishment of manufacturing and selling counterfeit and shoddy goods crimes.
Data shows that in 2025, nationwide procuratorial organs approved the arrest of 3,593 cases involving 5,745 people for manufacturing and selling counterfeit and shoddy goods, and prosecuted 9,583 cases involving 18,376 people.
It is recommended that administrative law enforcement agencies transfer 615 suspected cases involving 651 people of manufacturing and selling counterfeit and shoddy goods, and supervise public security organs to file cases in 224 cases involving 255 people.
Procuratorial organs have always maintained a high-pressure stance against crimes endangering food and drug safety, effectively safeguarding the safety of people’s taste buds.
In 2025, they prosecuted a total of 5,026 food crime cases involving 9,595 people, and 2,135 drug crime cases involving 4,043 people.
