【Company Profile】
Staar Surgical Company designs, develops, manufactures, and sells implantable lenses. The company is a leading manufacturer of lenses used in corrective or “refractive” surgeries worldwide. Its lenses are also used in cataract surgery. All of the company’s lenses are foldable, allowing surgeons to insert them through a small incision during minimally invasive procedures. Refractive surgery corrects visual impairments that traditional treatments like glasses or contact lenses cannot. The company states that lenses used in refractive surgery are called “implantable intraocular contact lenses” or “artificial lens implants.” The refractive surgery field includes lens-based procedures, such as ICL products, and laser-based procedures like LASIK. Successful refractive surgery can correct common vision problems such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. STAAR Surgical was originally incorporated in California in 1982 and re-merged in Delaware in 1986.
