Mars Finance News, on April 19, Galaxy Digital Research Director Alex Thorn tweeted that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury has historically involved 518 Bitcoin addresses on its sanctions list (SDN list), which have collectively received 249,814 BTC, sent 239,708 BTC, and currently hold approximately 9,306 BTC, worth about $707 million at current market prices. Alex Thorn stated that OFAC sanctions are just one of the tools the U.S. uses to intercept illegal assets, and the CLARITY Act will further expand the Treasury’s powers. He believes this bill is “the largest expansion of financial surveillance powers since the USA PATRIOT Act.”
