The Strait of Hormuz Shipping Halts Again
According to UK sources, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz once again came to a halt on the evening of the 18th. Previously, a radio communication warning stated that Iranian armed forces had resumed “strict management and control” over the strait. Multiple ships in the relevant waters heard the warning, and this has been confirmed. On the same day, the UK maritime security company Pioneer Technologies released a report disclosing details of attacks on three ships in waters near the Strait of Hormuz that day, involving one oil tanker, one passenger ship, and one container ship. Of these, two ships were explicitly warned and fired upon by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, while the other container ship was struck by unidentified projectiles 25 nautical miles northeast of Oman, causing damage to some of the containers.
Iranian Speaker Says There Is Still a Long Way to Go to Reach a Final Agreement with Meida
On the 19th local time, Iranian Islamic Parliament Speaker Kalibaf said in an interview with local media that Iran’s acceptance of the ceasefire is to express its demands. Negotiations themselves are also a form of struggle; Iran’s main goal should be to advance and consolidate the nation’s rights within this framework. When speaking about the progress of negotiations with the United States, Kalibaf said that the negotiations have not eliminated mutual distrust between the two sides, but that both sides have gained a more pragmatic understanding of each other. Some issues have been resolved in the negotiations, while some have not yet been resolved. He believes there is still a long way to go before the two sides reach a final agreement. He also emphasized that on certain issues, Iran sticks to its position, and these demands are not negotiable. (CCTV) $BNB
