Lately I keep seeing terms like data availability, ordering, finality... a bunch of nouns. Actually, I focus on one main thread: whether your transaction is "seen by everyone" and "who has the authority to decide its position," and finally, whether it can be "reversed." Data that can't be seen = can't reconcile afterward; if the ordering is manipulated = issues like cut-ins or front-running become easier; unstable finality = you think it's settled, but it's still hanging.
Staking unlocks and unlock calendars have recently brought up the anxiety about sell pressure again. I'm actually more concerned about those moments on the chain when it suddenly becomes very congested and prone to front-running. The more panicked you are, the easier it is to make mistakes in authorization.
What I fear most isn't loss, but losing control: losing money can be reviewed, but giving out permissions randomly or signing without understanding — that's really like throwing the steering wheel away with one click. Anyway, my old habit before transferring funds is to check the address three times and make sure I understand what I'm authorizing. If it takes a bit longer, so be it.
