To implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and to promote the “Zero Waste” construction in the industrial sector, on March 18, 2026, the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization organized a seminar in Beijing on the development standards for “Zero Waste Parks” and “Zero Waste Enterprises.” Representatives from relevant industry associations, universities, research institutions, and enterprises attended the meeting.
The meeting pointed out that promoting the transformation of industrial production processes toward “zero waste” is of great significance for enhancing the comprehensive utilization of industrial resources and protecting the ecological environment.
Researching and formulating standards such as the general requirements for the construction of “Zero Waste Parks” and “Zero Waste Enterprises” will help guide industrial parks and enterprises to implement “zero waste” production methods based on actual conditions, promote source reduction of solid waste, reduce waste generation intensity, and improve resource utilization efficiency.
During the meeting, officials from the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization introduced the background and considerations for the “Zero Waste” construction work in the industrial sector.
The China Electronics Standardization Institute presented the development status of the standards for the general requirements of “Zero Waste Parks” and “Zero Waste Enterprises.”
Experts, scholars, and enterprise representatives provided opinions and suggestions on the standard content.
Next, the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization will accelerate the development of standards for the general requirements of “Zero Waste Parks” and “Zero Waste Enterprises,” using standards to lead key waste-generating industries to adopt “zero waste” production methods, and support the green and sustainable development of industry.
