Tech Home March 14 News, Reuters just cited sources saying that Meta is planning a large-scale layoff, with the date and scale not yet finalized. The sources believe it may affect 20% or more of the company’s employees.

Sources revealed that Meta is seeking to offset the expensive investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure and is preparing to improve the efficiency of AI-assisted employees.

Two informed individuals said that senior company executives have recently communicated this plan to other senior leaders at Meta and have asked them to start planning how to lay off staff. These sources are anonymous because they are not authorized to disclose the layoffs. If Meta confirms a layoff ratio of 20%, this will be the most significant layoff since the company’s restructuring called “Efficiency Year” at the end of 2022 and early 2023. According to its latest filings, as of December 31, the company has nearly 79,000 employees.
