Taiwan’s stock market value surpasses the UK, becoming the world’s 7th-largest stock market



By contrast, the UK stock market has clearly lagged. Represented by the FTSE 100 index, the UK stock market’s gain has been less than 4% since the beginning of this year, mainly dragged down by stubborn inflation and interest rates that are higher than in other parts of Europe. However, most strategists still hold a positive view of the UK stock market’s medium- to long-term outlook, believing that in an environment where geopolitical uncertainty is increasing, energy and defensive stock sectors have higher weights in UK equities, giving it an advantage in attracting a return of safe-haven or defensive capital.
