Croatia’s Presidential Office announced on the 19th that all 7 Croatian soldiers involved in NATO’s mission in Iraq have been withdrawn.
After the United States and Israel launched military strikes against Iran, Croatian President Milanović decided to withdraw Croatian troops from the Middle East, including 7 in Iraq and 1 in Lebanon, who were participating in NATO and United Nations missions.
Milanović at the time stated that military intervention without UN authorization not only fails to resolve the crisis but also worsens conflicts and causes long-term instability.
According to Croatian sources, after Milanović announced the withdrawal, the personnel waiting to evacuate have been awaiting safe conditions.
The Croatian Presidential Office also stated on the 19th that soldiers who have safely withdrawn from Iraq are on their way back home, and another soldier had already safely evacuated from Lebanon last week. (CCTV News)
