Wu Shuo has learned that, according to a post on X by ZODL, Zcash has released zcashd v6.12.1, and the Zcash Foundation has simultaneously released Zebra v4.3.1, patching four security vulnerabilities. These include an Orchard action-encoding flaw that could cause node crashes and may also trigger a consensus split issue between two types of clients. The official says that mining pools running both implementations have completed the patch deployment, and there are currently no signs that the vulnerabilities have been exploited. User funds and privacy are not affected, and there is no risk of ZEC inflation. The official advises users to upgrade as soon as possible and review the announcement for full details.
