Mars Finance News, April 17 — The latest issue of the 《2026 Artificial Intelligence Index Report》 released by Stanford University’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence has pointed out that the current gap between China and the U.S.’s top large models has been “effectively closed,” with performance among leading models being comparable and showing a parallel-runs trend. The report shows that among the top 20 AI institutions, China has 11, ranking first ahead of the U.S. Alibaba ranks third on the 2025 global top model contribution ranking, and is also the Chinese technology company with the most important models selected.

On the Arena ranking, six companies—including the U.S.’s Anthropic, xAI, Google, OpenAI, and China’s Alibaba and DeepSeek—together make up the top tier. Their competition is intense, and the focus is gradually shifting from performance comparisons to cost, reliability, and practical usefulness in the real world. (
