Been digging through some sub-$10 stocks lately and honestly the setup feels interesting right now. Market's been holding up well, earnings outlooks are solid for 2025-2026, and the Fed looks ready to keep easing. That combo usually means people keep buying dips instead of panicking.
So I started screening for cheap stocks that actually have substance behind them - not just random penny plays. Looking for names under $10 with decent volume, strong analyst coverage, and improving earnings estimates. The criteria are pretty straightforward: solid Zacks Rank, positive earnings revisions over the last 12 weeks, and at least a couple analysts covering it.
Found roughly 70 stocks that fit the profile, which is a decent pool to work with. One that caught my eye was Compass (COMP). It's a real estate tech play - basically building tools for agents. AI features, CRM platform, transaction services, that kind of thing.
Here's what makes it interesting: they're projecting 22% revenue growth for 2025, then 14% for 2026, getting to like $7.87B in revenue. More importantly, they're supposed to swing from losing money last year to actually being profitable. Their earnings estimates jumped 33% since they reported in early November, which is the kind of revision pattern you want to see.
Stock's been on a tear too - up 40% in the past year, crushing the broader tech sector's 28%. Over three years it's up like 190%, so it's had a real run. But here's the thing: it's still trading 14% below where analysts think it should go, and it's sitting right at a technical level that could be significant.
The real estate market's been tough with those high mortgage rates, but Compass has managed to keep growing through it. That's worth paying attention to. If the stock breaks through that technical range, could be looking at a move toward all-time highs.
Obviously this isn't a guarantee, but when you're hunting for dollar stocks to buy in this environment, this is the kind of setup worth monitoring. The earnings revisions, the analyst support, and the technical setup all line up. Worth keeping on your radar if you're looking to add some exposure to beaten-down sectors that might be ready to run.
