Just looked at some migration data and it's wild how many millennials are packing up and moving to specific cities with the most millennials right now. Apparently Austin, Seattle, and Denver are absolutely packed with people in their late 20s and 30s who relocated recently. Austin alone had over 100k millennials move in, which is insane.
What's interesting is it's not just the typical tech hubs either. I'm seeing Alexandria Virginia, Cambridge Massachusetts, and even some spots in Georgia making the top list. Seems like millennials are spreading out more than you'd think - some going for job opportunities, others just lifestyle changes. The data shows about 12-13% of these cities' new residents are millennials who recently moved there.
The smaller cities are getting attention too. Places like Fargo, North Dakota and Lakewood, Colorado are showing up on the cities with the most millennials moving in. Not what I expected honestly. Guess people are looking beyond the obvious choices these days. Makes sense though - lower cost of living, still decent job markets, and that whole 'quality of life' thing millennials supposedly care about.
