just realized there's actually a bunch of apps that pay you for walking and i've been sleeping on this. like, you're literally just moving anyway so why not get something out of it?
started looking into some of them. evidation seems solid - you can rack up points from walking, biking, running, whatever, and they connect to fitbit and other fitness trackers. takes 10k points to get a $10 reward though so it's not exactly a get-rich scheme. but there's also charity miles if you want your steps to actually mean something - turns your walking into donations to causes you actually care about.
if you're more competitive, stepbet lets you literally bet on yourself to hit fitness goals. you put down like $40 and if you hit your targets over 6 weeks you get paid back. paidtogo is another one people mention - claims you can earn up to 10 cents per mile, which could add up to $75 a month if you're really committed to walking.
the thing is most of these apps that pay you for walking are giving out gift cards or small amounts rather than actual cash. paceline does amazon gift cards, sweatcoin has iphones and apple watches in their rewards catalog, miles has walmart and target. so it's more like a bonus motivation thing than a side hustle that'll change your life.
honestly though if you need that little push to actually get outside instead of scrolling all day, downloading one of these apps that pay you for walking might be the move. free incentive to stop being lazy basically. anyone actually using any of these?
