So fall and winter are literally the best time to hustle if you need extra cash. I've been looking into different fall side hustles and honestly some of them pay way better than I expected.
Yard cleanup is actually solid money - people will pay $150-$400 just to have someone rake leaves and clean up their yard. Even just leaf removal alone starts at like $75 minimum. I'm not trying to start a full landscaping business but this seems doable as a one-off gig.
The holiday decoration thing is huge though. Apparently 52% of Americans decorate for Halloween and way more do Christmas lights. You can charge $500-$1,000+ per house just hanging lights, or if you don't want to go full entrepreneur you can work for a lighting company at like $21/hour. Either way it's decent money for fall side hustles that literally run from September through January.
Worked at a haunted house once - it was fun but the pay is pretty low ($7-$15/hr usually). Holiday light shows pay better though. Poll worker gigs are interesting too if you're into that, average is like $23.60/hr and it's legit work.
My favorite idea? Selling personalized Santa letters. Saw someone made $6,000 in a month doing this. You can post on Etsy or Facebook Marketplace and honestly it's kind of genius for a quick fall side hustle. Just don't put up flyers where kids will see them lol.
The key thing everyone forgets - you gotta pay taxes on this stuff. Don't get hit with a huge bill next spring. Talk to someone about it first if you're making real money from seasonal gig work.
