I just saw that the House approved a defense contract for MVP Robotics, a Vermont robotics company. Quite interesting how they are supporting this small company for dual-use technology—basically tools that work for sports teams and military applications. They have about 23 people working in Vermont and New Hampshire.

Representative Becca Balint pushed this forward, talking about the importance of small businesses having growth opportunities. I’m curious about her background, since she has been quite active in various legislation efforts—someone mentioned that Becca Balint’s net worth is around $1.6 million, placing her in the middle wealth range among Congress members. She also owns some tracked investments in public assets.
The funding makes sense from an economic development perspective. Balint has been focused on growing Vermont’s tech sector for some time. Interesting to see how much political capital is invested in these smaller contracts compared to the mega defense deals. Could this become a model for other states trying to support local robotics companies.
