just fell down a rabbit hole looking at the most expensive things in the world and honestly some of this stuff makes zero sense lol. like there's a dead shark in formaldehyde that sold for 8 million dollars. a DEAD SHARK. Damien Hirst really said art and got away with it.
but okay the yacht situation is actually insane. History Supreme cost 4.5 billion with gold and platinum literally everywhere - the railings, the deck, the anchor, all of it. three years just to design it. meanwhile Jeff Bezos has a clock that costs 42 million and is supposed to run for 10,000 years. that's just flex energy.
the paintings though hit different. The Card Players by Cezzane is apparently worth 275 million and some Qatar royal family just owns it casually. and there's a mansion in Beverly Hills that went for 165 million. Mukesh Ambani's house in Mumbai (Antilia) is literally 2 billion. a 27-story building with 3 helipads.
like i get rich people exist but the gap between what they spend on stuff and what we consider expensive is absolutely unhinged. a crystal piano for 3 million seems almost reasonable compared to a 4.5 billion boat lol. makes you wonder what the most expensive thing in the world will be by next year honestly
