So I was wondering if my dog could have bananas and turns out they're actually pretty good for them. Lots of potassium, fiber, vitamins - the whole deal. But here's the thing, moderation is everything because they're also kinda high in sugar and can mess with their weight if you overdo it.

I read that treats should only be like 10% of their daily calories, so that's worth keeping in mind. My vet basically said my lab gets maybe a quarter banana max and honestly she savors every bite lol. The thing is dogs only need about 20mg of potassium a day and one banana has like 422mg, so yeah, you don't want to go crazy with it.

Also learned something interesting - if your dog has kidney issues or constipation problems, bananas are actually not great for them because of the potassium levels. Worth checking with your vet about that.

On the frozen banana question, apparently that's totally fine and dogs actually love it, especially in hot weather. Some people even mash it into a Kong and freeze it to keep them entertained. Now I'm curious about can dogs have dried bananas though - saw some people talking about banana chips. Apparently they're okay if they have no preservatives or artificial sweeteners, but you gotta be careful because they're super hard and could break a tooth. The ones you make yourself in a dehydrator are better than store-bought deep-fried ones.

Anyone else give their dog bananas regularly? Curious how often people do it.
