Recently, someone has been watching large on-chain transfers and hot/cold wallet movements on exchanges, shouting "Smart money is coming" whenever there's activity. I find it a bit exhausting... To be honest, when it comes to cross-chain stuff, whether it's IBC or other message passing protocols, there's actually quite a bit you need to trust: that the two chains themselves won't cause trouble, that verification/light clients won't be exploited, that the relay layer won't drop the ball, and what exactly you're authorizing when you sign. Bridges aren't magic; they just break trust into many pieces for you to choose from.
Not long ago, I followed an account that constantly posted about cross-chain "instant transfers," and the more I looked, the more anxious I became. Later, I thought, my hot wallet only holds pocket money, and cross-chain transfers are just occasional small amounts. I just unfollowed, and my mindset became much more relaxed. Anyway, for large amounts, I prefer slower transfers, double-check multiple times, and clear permissions after use—don't set yourself up for trouble.
