On the way to work, I saw someone chasing after a meme again, rushing as soon as a celebrity shouts. Honestly, veteran players advise newcomers not to take the last baton—not to appear pretentious... Attention shifts too quickly, and if something goes wrong with the bridge, you simply won't have time to run.
Recently, I've been more concerned about what exactly the "waiting for confirmation" on cross-chain bridges is waiting for: it's not waiting for your mood to stabilize, but waiting for the multi-signature participants to avoid signing randomly, for the oracle-fed data to not be tampered with, and for the finality on the chain to truly hold. Multi-signature, in plain terms, is "trusting people," and when people get anxious, things can easily go wrong; oracles are "data sources," and data hijacking is quite common. Anyway, now I look at bridges first for signature thresholds, whether the signers are decentralized, and whether issues can be paused or rolled back... taking it slow, at least assets won't turn into air in the blink of an eye.
