Recently, I see everyone arguing again about which L2 has higher TPS, lower fees, and more subsidies.
Honestly, I feel a bit anxious: the more competitive the speed, the more the phrase "waiting for confirmation" on cross-chain bridges is likely to be disliked.
To put it simply, a bridge is not a delivery locker; it's like temporarily handing over your assets to a combination of multi-signature and oracle for moving.
Once the multi-signature participants/machines malfunction or the oracle feeds incorrect data, speed doesn't matter—it's just "loss during transfer."
Now, when I bridge myself, I prefer to wait a few more minutes, increase the confirmation count, and check what the signature request is actually authorizing—so I don't accidentally give unlimited access with a slip of the hand.
My friends also tease me for being like an old Chinese medicine doctor: "Why rush? Wait until it takes your pulse before you leave."
Anyway, I stubbornly say: waiting for confirmation isn't procrastination; it's giving you a window to spot something wrong.
