just spent like an hour looking at cars under 50k because apparently the average price dipped below that mark recently and i got curious what's actually worth buying at that price point. honestly surprised how many solid options are still out there even with everything getting pricier.
started with the honda accord because everyone keeps recommending it. base model sits around upper 20k range, which is wild for something with smooth ride, decent fuel economy, and apparently holds value pretty well. not fancy but you're not paying for fancy either.
then looked at the toyota camry and it's basically the same price but now hybrid-only which actually seems like a win. some trims get over 50 mpg and people say it's the car you buy when you just want zero drama ownership. comfortable, efficient, done.
if you need more space the honda pilot starts low 40k range. bigger vehicles usually cost more but this one still keeps you under that 50k ceiling. the thing about it is you could probably drive it for like 10+ years if you wanted. comes with their safety package standard too which apparently beats industry standards.
wild part was the hyundai ioniq 5 electric suv. they dropped the starting price by like 9k after the federal tax credit expired, so now the base model is 35k with 245-318 mile range depending on which trim. can charge from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes. for cars under 50k you're getting actual ev tech at that price now.
the fact that you can still find quality cars under 50k when everyone's talking about how expensive everything is makes me think people are just being pickier about what they actually want instead of prices totally tanking. what are you guys looking for if you're shopping right now?
