The United States sends 18 A-10 attack aircraft to the Middle East.

According to a report by The New York Times in the United States, U.S. Department of Defense officials said on the 1st that the U.S. military is moving 18 more A-10 attack aircraft to the Middle East, doubling the size of the A-10 attack aircraft force deployed in the region.

The report said that all of these A-10 attack aircraft, which took off from the United States mainland on their way to the Middle East theater of operations, made a stopover at RAF Lakenheath in the United Kingdom. These aircraft may help U.S. ground forces seize areas along the coast of the Strait of Hormuz, or be used to seize Iran’s main oil hub, Kharg Island. (Xinhua News Agency)
