So I've been looking into buying a cheap Caribbean island property and honestly the options are way better than I thought. Everyone talks about expensive destinations but there are some surprisingly affordable spots if you know where to look.
Roatan in Honduras is probably the most budget-friendly—homes around $135k to $175k. Way cheaper than Mexico or other Caribbean spots. Plus you can dive there which is a nice bonus. Then there's Barbados which ranges from like $67k to $400k depending on what you want. The best part? No restrictions on foreigners buying land and they have this 12-month Welcome Stamp visa thing where you can live and work without paying local taxes. That's actually wild.
St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands averages around $239k and it's the most affordable of the USVI options. Easy for Americans since it's technically US territory. St. Lucia is around $200k at Rodney Bay and here's the kicker—no capital gains tax. Like actually no capital gains tax. Then Antigua and Barbuda sits higher at $255k-$12 million but still about 20% cheaper than buying in the States.
The cheapest Caribbean island to buy property really depends on your budget, but if you're serious about finding an affordable Caribbean island to buy property on, these five are legit the best deals right now. Roatan and Barbados are probably your best bets for actual budget options though. Anyone else been looking at this stuff or am I the only one getting island fever right now?
