So I just found out dogs can actually have watermelon, and honestly it blew my mind because I always thought it was a no-go. Turns out watermelon for dogs is totally safe as long as you do it right—basically you gotta remove the seeds and rind first, cut it into small pieces, and keep it as an occasional treat, not a regular thing.
The cool part is that watermelon for dogs is actually pretty good for them, especially in summer. It's mostly water (like 92%), so it keeps them hydrated, plus it's got vitamins A, B6, and C that help with their immune system and digestion. Way better than regular ice cream or other sugary treats.
But yeah, the seeds are a hard no—they can cause blockages and choking issues. Same with the rind. I'm thinking of just buying seedless watermelon to make it easier. Start with just a few small pieces and see how your dog reacts, then you can gradually give them a bit more if they're into it.
Anyone else feeding watermelon to dogs? Curious if your pups actually like it or if mine's just weird lol. Definitely checking with my vet first though, just to be safe.
