just read that the world costliest thing isn't even something practical—it's a yacht called History Supreme that cost $4.5 billion. like, FOUR AND A HALF BILLION. apparently it took three years to design and has gold and platinum literally everywhere. the structural fittings, railings, anchors, everything. some Malaysian businessman who owns Shangri-La hotels picked it up.
what's wild is that Jeff Bezos has a superyacht too but his was only $500 million, which honestly sounds cheap in comparison lol. though I guess when you're a billionaire, the difference between half a billion and 4.5 billion is just... numbers?
anyway got me thinking about other ridiculous expensive stuff. there's this $2 billion house in Mumbai—Antilia—that's literally a 27-story building with three helipads and a 50-seat theater. owned by the richest guy in India. then there's the French villa that sold for $506 million, and some painting by Cézanne worth $275 million. like how do you even insure that?
the world costliest thing list is honestly insane when you really think about it. a dead shark preserved in formaldehyde sold for $8 million. a piano made of crystal for $3.2 million. a domain name—just a website name—for $16 million. sometimes I wonder if billionaires just buy random stuff to see if they can, you know?
Mukesh Ambani's house alone is worth $2 billion and has 9 elevators. NINE. I can't even imagine what that lifestyle is like. and Bezos apparently owns multiple properties worth over $100 million each plus that crazy 10,000-year clock.
makes you realize the world costliest thing could literally be anything if you're rich enough. a shark in a tank, a watch with 110 carats of diamonds, a Picasso painting—doesn't really matter. it's all just flex at that point. what's the most ridiculous expensive item you've heard of?
