The United States and Ecuador launch joint operations to crack down on drug trafficking gangs within Ecuador.

The United States and Ecuadorian military announced that they launched a joint operation, targeting a drug trafficking camp in northeastern Ecuador. Both the U.S. Southern Command and the Ecuadorian Ministry of Defense did not disclose whether there were any casualties or captures during the operation. In a statement, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Defense said that helicopters, river boats, and drones were used in the operation to locate and bomb a drug trafficking camp located near the Colombian border in northeastern Ecuador.
