just realized how much groceries are actually costing these days and started looking into those buy now pay later apps everyone talks about. honestly if you're living paycheck to paycheck like me, splitting your grocery bill into smaller payments hits different.
so i've been checking out a few options and afterpay seems pretty solid if you want flexibility on where to shop for groceries. the app is super easy to use and you get that virtual card for your wallet which is convenient. no interest if you pay on time, but they do charge late fees so you gotta stay on top of it. what grocery stores accept afterpay though - that's the thing, they're partnered with some specialty food stores but not as many regular supermarkets as the other apps.
afirm's got way more grocery store options like walmart, target, costco - basically everywhere you'd actually shop. the pay in 4 plan has no fees which is nice, though their longer payment plans can get pricey with interest. paypal's another one worth considering if you want more flexibility, they've got partnerships with the big box stores too.
if you really want to shop anywhere though, splitit is kind of the move because it works with your existing credit card. no credit checks, no applications, you just pick how many payments you want. the catch is it doesn't work with debit cards so you need a credit card to begin with.
real talk though - these apps are helpful when you're in a pinch but you gotta be careful about missing payments. late fees add up fast and suddenly your groceries cost way more than they should. compare what stores you actually shop at before picking one because that's gonna be the deciding factor for most people.
