I've been playing games for as long as I can remember, starting with the veteran Commodore 64, so I've been playing for quite a while. I am tired of reading the foolishness of blaming games for every negative incident involving young people. Currently, almost no young person in Turkey doesn't play games on a PC or mobile device. The common trait of troubled individuals is that they play games because everyone is playing now. Saying that young people using cell phones are killers and that those who play games are influenced and become killers is equally nonsensical.
The same applies to the discussion about whether TV series negatively influence young people. This is mostly a trivial accusation. Do you really think there are no young people around you? Do you believe there are millions of young people seriously following and inspired by low-quality local TV series? All these series target people over 30 who come home from work and sit in front of the TV for two hours. Neither young people care about them nor do the producers.
In Turkey, the only production that has influenced the entire society to this day was "Kurtlar Vadisi" (Valley of the Wolves). It had such an impact on society that it could be the subject of theses. After that period, many channel managers I know created the term "Men's series" and regularly produced mafia, military, and similar hero series to attract those who watched Kurtlar Vadisi in their youth into adulthood.
In Japan, for example, you might encounter a horror movie trailer before a cartoon you take your child to. Strangely, Japanese children are not psychologically affected by it, unlike ours, who are assumed to be influenced by everything they see. In Turkey, even by mistake, mothers of Asels (a brand of mobile phones) would probably break their keyboards writing to CIMER (the government complaint platform).
What influences these young people are not virtual characters but real-life examples.
The biggest problem in Turkey is looking for the problem in the wrong place and trying to cover it up with superficial solutions. Until we drain the swamp, the flies will keep increasing regardless of the medicine. Turkey's swamp is justice.
Politics knows the solution but is too afraid to put forward things that will reach so many people. In summary, in the existing system, both the ruling party and the opposition face a greater threat in losing the youth than in losing votes.
